2022 Remington Viney Memorial Scholarship Recipient

Valarie Meyer

Our first-place scholarship recipient ($5,000) holds a private pilot license and an instrument rating. As a 4.0 honor student in her sophomore year, she is pursuing an Aviation Flight and Management degree through Southern Illinois University.

She actively participates in Women in Aviation International and the Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance, leads the aviation club, and mentors other student pilots.

She is currently working on her commercial pilot certificate and is pursuing a Certified Flight Instructor rating.

UPDATE:

After receiving the Remington Viney Memorial Scholarship in 2022, I earned my Commercial Pilot Certificate, Multi Engine Rating, and Flight Instructor Certificate. Not only has this scholarship jumpstarted my career, it has allowed me to teach upcoming aviators, filling my days with joy, fulfillment, and contagious excitement for what lies ahead — not just for me but for the vibrant future of aviation. Thanks to the help of this scholarship, I am set to graduate a year early, in May of 2024, and am actively searching for a position in business aviation. Valarie Meyer 12/22/23
